A daily record of gratitude; from quilting to photography to a mix of technology, books, movies and the musings of life!

Welcome to my Blog of my daily gratitude and photo of the day!

Since January 1, 2012, my goal is to write a daily sentence or two (or paragraph or two) about gratitude of the day and to include one photo (at least) that I took that day (but will add others from time to time). It has definitely been a challenge most days throughout the past eight years, and welcomed the challenge again this year - 2020 - Covid and all. I hope you will continue the ride with me!

Just TRYAN It in Alexandria VA

One hundred and thirty one kids (ages 6-14) participated in the Just TRYAN It triathlon at the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia this morning. Whoohooo!!! It was a beautiful day for all racers to swim, bike and run...fast to raise funds for kids and families battling childhood cancer. My entire family volunteered at this special event, from the transition area (Ryan); the bike course ("The Best Daughter and Brian Phillips); the run course (me); and the announcer for the event (Bill). Believe it or not, JTI had over 140 volunteers to help all the youngsters finish their event and cheer loudly for each racer. We all could not be more tickled to help this wonderful organization.

In a previous blogpost (9/14), I happened to mention Ryan Darby, and his family's foundation, which is Just TRYAN It. And since 2010, they have raised $1.5 million dollars to help defray outstanding costs to families in treatment for pediatric cancer which is really fantastic! Many families need help during very trying times with their sick children. And because this race was held during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month makes is all the more special.

A big shout of Congratulations to The Just Tryan It leadership, volunteers and participants and the beautiful Episcopal High School campus where everyone felt welcome and parents were able to see their kids participation in each event throughout the magnificent campus.

BSoleille! The bright side of kid triathletes...even some racers with training wheels! Sooooo cute!
