A daily record of gratitude; from quilting to photography to a mix of technology, books, movies and the musings of life!

Welcome to my Blog of my daily gratitude and photo of the day!

Since January 1, 2012, my goal is to write a daily sentence or two (or paragraph or two) about gratitude of the day and to include one photo (at least) that I took that day (but will add others from time to time). It has definitely been a challenge most days throughout the past eight years, and welcomed the challenge again this year - 2020 - Covid and all. I hope you will continue the ride with me!

Happy 18th Birthday Ryan Tomoff!

A special day, for a special boy, now man, Ryan Tomoff.  However, his special day is spent at Camp Fantastic, probably the most appropriate place to spend his birthday (if not home, that is); and has done just that for the last 11 years.  Despite the many medical challenges he has endured before, during and after camp, this magical place allowed him to forget his troubles at least for a few moments, and those moments added up to minutes and on and on until he strung together the seven days of camp week!  That is one HUGE blessing, and I cannot thank the many people who make that happen enough!

The following wonderful piece was put together by news reporter Mike Conneen from WJLA who highlighted and thread Ryan's story and Special Love's Celebration of 30 years of Camp Fantastic!!!  A big shout of HOW HOW to Dave Smith, Dr. Steve Chanock (head doc), doctors, nurses, and staff who make this week the most magical for the 100 kids with cancer and other life-threatening diseases who come simply to have FUN!

BSoleille!  The very bright side of Camp Fantastic!

Photo of Ryan and husband Bill (his favorite) that really captures the big love bestowed on Ryan that day, and every day since!

Today is my Grandson Jackson's Birthday too. Yesterday would have been my Mom's 85th. Emotions run wild for the Leo's in my life. Sounds like one more thing we have in common. Happy Birthday Ryan, and many many more!
Love, Sheila
