A daily record of gratitude; from quilting to photography to a mix of technology, books, movies and the musings of life!

Welcome to my Blog of my daily gratitude and photo of the day!

Since January 1, 2012, my goal is to write a daily sentence or two (or paragraph or two) about gratitude of the day and to include one photo (at least) that I took that day (but will add others from time to time). It has definitely been a challenge most days throughout the past eight years, and welcomed the challenge again this year - 2020 - Covid and all. I hope you will continue the ride with me!

Seriousness to Square Dancing

The Special Love Parents Get Away weekend (for parents of childhood cancer diagnoses in all stages of the continuum) is designed for some education, relaxation, and rejuvenation if possible. Our morning speakers, Peter and Vicki Brown, founders of the Mattie Miracle Foundation, were great in telling their story of their son Mattie who battled but lost his fight with osteosarcoma in 2009. They are now spearheading an ambitious effort in stardardizing psychosocial care in pediatric cancer patients and their families across the nation. Their commitment to this endeavor is inspiring and unwavering and I hope this paradigm shift happens very soon.

The afternoon was comprised of great volunteer message therapists, make up artists and Pillates instruction that, I believe, all parents were delighted by those efforts.

And lastly, the evening program was "down home" square dancing with Caller Rich Steadman and his eight dancers. They led and taught those willing to try and it seemed like everyone enjoyed do-si-do-ing, swinging their partner and promenading them home!  How How!
