A daily record of gratitude; from quilting to photography to a mix of technology, books, movies and the musings of life!

Welcome to my Blog of my daily gratitude and photo of the day!

Since January 1, 2012, my goal is to write a daily sentence or two (or paragraph or two) about gratitude of the day and to include one photo (at least) that I took that day (but will add others from time to time). It has definitely been a challenge most days throughout the past eight years, and welcomed the challenge again this year - 2020 - Covid and all. I hope you will continue the ride with me!

One More Civil War Site for This Summer

Intrigued by a Civil War Monument sign in Harrisonburg, Virginia that I have passed numerous times in and around JMU, I finally had a quiet moment to check it out. The monument is a grave marker of Turner Ashby, who was a Confederate Calvary commander during the Civil War. He was killed on this spot June 6, 1862 in the Battle of Goods Farm.

It is set high on a hill overlooking the new sports complex (you can see down but looking up you could not tell what was on the hill) and not one soul was near this eerily quiet site. However, my photo depicts that this gravesite is well taken care of by a group of caring ladies of Harrisonburg.

BSoleille!
Terri
