It was a beautiful evening in downtown Baltimore to "officially" welcome Tracy's Kids Art Therapist, Danielle Eichner, to the Herman and Walter Samuelson Children's Hospital at Sinai. Although she has been on board for a few months now, tonight was her official kickoff and platform to take the program to new heights in helping kids with cancer and life-threatening illnesses and disease at Sinai. Danielle, a childhood cancer survivor herself, can certainly bring an element of "close to the heart" therapy and coping mechanisms using art to help the emotional stress and trauma of every child diagnosed with cancer and their families because she has been through it too. When the children do not want to leave the hospital because they want to finish their projects, that is a testament to how important it really is, and the need to tie art therapy with the medical therapy is paramount in family centered care programs.
Tracy's Kids Art Therapy Programs, now in five hospitals and in several states, work directly with physicians, nurses and other medical personnel and are integrated as members of each child's treatment team. It truly is an amazing program bar none! I am thankful for our family's invitation to this kick off event for Danielle!
BSoleille! The bright side of Dr. Aziza Shad and the First Lady of the State of Maryland, Yumi Hogan, as huge proponents and supporters of Tracy's Kids at Sinai in Baltimore!
