A daily record of gratitude; from quilting to photography to a mix of technology, books, movies and the musings of life!

Welcome to my Blog of my daily gratitude and photo of the day!

Since January 1, 2012, my goal is to write a daily sentence or two (or paragraph or two) about gratitude of the day and to include one photo (at least) that I took that day (but will add others from time to time). It has definitely been a challenge most days throughout the past eight years, and welcomed the challenge again this year - 2020 - Covid and all. I hope you will continue the ride with me!

Patuxant Wildlife Refuge Research Center

A "field trip" to this wonderful National Park in Laurel, Maryland, with Mary Nielsen, was a surprising two-fold visit. Our quilt guild, Southern Comforters of Bowie, has several members (including myself) that have "wildlife" quilts hanging in the visitor center that we wanted to check out. What a nice display it is with plenty of colorful animal and plant life quilts in a great setting. Mine, "Kavi, the Elephant Artiste" is hanging near the entrance of the gallery.

But the beautiful, sunny and warm late morning gave way to checking out a sliver of the 12,000 acres this park encompasses. FDR deemed this land for research in 1936, and it has certainly evolved from its 2,000 original acres to what they have now including two small lakes. We did not see any wildlife (unless you call a couple of classes of second graders), but the trees were at their peak coloring!

BSoleille!  The bright side of taking in a new adventure.
