A daily record of gratitude; from quilting to photography to a mix of technology, books, movies and the musings of life!

Welcome to my Blog of my daily gratitude and photo of the day!

Since January 1, 2012, my goal is to write a daily sentence or two (or paragraph or two) about gratitude of the day and to include one photo (at least) that I took that day (but will add others from time to time). It has definitely been a challenge most days throughout the past eight years, and welcomed the challenge again this year - 2020 - Covid and all. I hope you will continue the ride with me!

Guest Blogger Ryan Tomoff

The following is from Ryan's Instagram post today. I could not have said this any better, so I am going with it plus bursting with pride for this awesome young man and the journey he has been on for quite a long time!

Wow! What a difference a year makes. As many of you know I had surgery one year ago, one of the longest surgeries I've endured. A year later I feel completely different. Before surgery I weighed in at about 85 pounds. I was practically skin and bones. Today I stand at 110 but still room for more. I've always said I'll come back physically and mentally tougher. Mentally I couldn't be more proud of myself for what I've accomplished in the last year, not only the surgery in May but the recovery with that  but also the second occurrence of tongue cancer and the two surgeries that came with it. All of this wouldn't have been possible without Dr.Ord and his medical team at the University of Maryland Hospital and my family and Friends. They are the ones who pushed me to become stronger and to never let anything stop you. I've posted some photos of what everything looked like after surgery. People have asked what was the hardest thing about surgery? Was it the recovery? No. The hardest thing for me was 1. Filling out my will of death in case something were to happen during surgery and #2. Was waking up after all the Anesthesia wore of and not being able to speak.

I like to end my posts with quotes. Today's quote is by Paul Bryant.

"If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride- and never quit, you'll be a winner. The drive of victory is high but so are the rewards."
