A daily record of gratitude; from quilting to photography to a mix of technology, books, movies and the musings of life!

Welcome to my Blog of my daily gratitude and photo of the day!

Since January 1, 2012, my goal is to write a daily sentence or two (or paragraph or two) about gratitude of the day and to include one photo (at least) that I took that day (but will add others from time to time). It has definitely been a challenge most days throughout the past eight years, and welcomed the challenge again this year - 2020 - Covid and all. I hope you will continue the ride with me!

Library of Congress Building

I felt compelled to post about the very impressive Library of Congress Building I was in last night, as I do not recall ever being in it before. The Beaux Arts architecture style with its fine decorations, murals, paintings, marble halls, columns and steps, carved hardwoods and a stained glass dome was simply breathtaking. If you are local, get down there and take a look around!

The Library of Congress is the research library that officially serves the US Congress  but which is the de facto national library of the United States. It is the oldest federal cultural institution in the United States.

Although the 23,500,000 volumes of catalogue books, and over 150,000,000 non classified items are only "lent" out to Congress and their staffers, there is plenty to see with the special exhibits and permanent collections for the rest of the citizens.

BSoleille!  The bright side of planning my next trip to the Library of Congress.
