A daily record of gratitude; from quilting to photography to a mix of technology, books, movies and the musings of life!

Welcome to my Blog of my daily gratitude and photo of the day!

Since January 1, 2012, my goal is to write a daily sentence or two (or paragraph or two) about gratitude of the day and to include one photo (at least) that I took that day (but will add others from time to time). It has definitely been a challenge most days throughout the past eight years, and welcomed the challenge again this year - 2020 - Covid and all. I hope you will continue the ride with me!

A Lioness of South Africa

A sad tragedy today in Johannesburg, South Africa where a young 22 year old American woman was killed by a lioness, the main hunters in a pride.  She was on a self-guided/drive tour of a reserve with many lions in the park, and her companion was also badly injured trying to get the lioness to retreat.  These majestic animals will attack, and are certainly very dangerous, that it is wise to go with a professional guide if at all possible while learning about, taking photos of, or simply viewing and enjoying the wild beasts they are.  I am so sad for her family....

My photo today of this lioness was taken in Madikwe, South Africa, in February 2015, looking very calm and relaxed, and I am thankful she remained laying down for quite some time.
