Word of Mouth Advertising

Advertisers spend millions of dollars each year to sell a service or product, and we all understand that part of business for the most part. But for local services and products - like a good dentist, or what grocery store has the freshest produce, we rely on recommendations from the people we know, like friends/neighbors/co-workers. Most recently I reached out to some friends for a local hairdresser they liked and went to for cuts and color, because the hairdresser I've gone to for the past 15 years went on a six month leave of absence. Of course, it's all opinion and "word of mouth", but it works, and that tried and true method worked beautifully for me today.

It can truly be quite daunting to try someone new at a new salon (for me), but I had faith in my friends' kind assessment of The Hair by Ell in Bowie, Maryland, and went with their recommendation to try Joe. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the warmth of the place the moment I walked through the door, and was introduced to Joe within the first minute. For something as intimate as working on a head of hair, the "just met" uncomfortableness melted away as he went to work judiciously, with a smile on his face and plethora of stories of his kids and family. I was happy to be in his chair as he worked his "magic" on my highlights and haircut! A "new" me emerged...

BSoleille! The bright side of the power of "word of mouth" advertising...

  1. Joe is sure one of the good guys. I've used his wife also so I know you were in good hands.
