At the annual Special Love’s Christmas Party in early December, awards are a part of the program before Santa Claus and the Mrs. descend on all the young kids in attendance for treats and gifts.
So this year, as Senior Director of Outreach and Programs, Dave Smith, began reading the attributes of this years Volunteer of the Year Award, I was/we were gobsmacked when he uttered "has held the record of continuous years at camp; ages 7-17 due to this three relapses of cancer."
We knew instantly that Ryan was this years recipient and felt so proud when he marched up to receive this distinguished award (every year there are hundreds of volunteers to choose from!).
Ryan has certainly earned this recognition by, not only going to Camp Fantastic for one week in August, but has steadily increased his volunteering to include almost all the weekend programs throughout the entire year.
We are so happy and grateful for Ryan’s abilities to help others and make a difference to the children and families Special Loves serves through their programs each year. We believe in Ryan, and it feels terrific that this wonderful organization does too!
HOW-HOW!!!
Terri
A daily record of gratitude; from quilting to photography to a mix of technology, books, movies and the musings of life!
Welcome to my Blog of my daily gratitude and photo of the day!
Since January 1, 2012, my goal is to write a daily sentence or two (or paragraph or two) about gratitude of the day and to include one photo (at least) that I took that day (but will add others from time to time). It has definitely been a challenge most days throughout the past eight years, and welcomed the challenge again this year - 2020 - Covid and all. I hope you will continue the ride with me!
